Your objective is to present and summarize the work of Critical Race Theory scholars as well as showcase specific contributions and possible applications of their work. What insights does a Critical Race Theory lens bring to bear on current debates around education and voting rights? How might such insights shape better understandings around the nature of ongoing socioeconomic inequalities or generate innovative proposals for addressing them in policy and practice?INSTRUCTIONSStep 1: 40 points. Create an annotated bibliography entry for the two main assigned readings from Module 2: Cheryl Harris’ 1993 “Whiteness as Property” and Barbara Love’s “Brown Plus 50 Counter-Storytelling.” Word count is flexible, aim for 300-600 words for each entry [worth 20 points each, for a total of 40 points for Step 1]. 2) Each entry must incorporate at least one additional source from the assigned materials from Module 2 (or supplementary material discussed in lecture or included in modules tab).Please note: The objective of this criteria is for you to practice refining your analytical skills by connecting the reading to outside examples. You do not need to incorporate examples into each of the four different elements. Rather, you might use the additional materials to help you expand your “working definitions” of concepts or terms by applying the author’s concept to analyze outside example (for Element 3. CONCEPTS AND TERMS) OR you might incorporate a discussion of how their work helps us analyze present-day debates around contentious issues related to student achievement, k-12 curriculum, voting laws, etc.

Respond to at least one of your peers by selecting one of their entries and putting it into dialogue with your own.The goal this week is to reflect on how different approaches to critical theory contribute to our understanding of complex issues we encounter in our everyday lives.TIP: select one of the authors focus on examples discussed in key concepts / terms or the evolution element of your peer’s entry to consider what new insights emerge.
