Class,
I am terrible at introductions and talking about myself, but I’ll start off by saying that my name is Kevin Buchanan and I look forward to working with everyone over the next eight weeks. I recently completed my undergrad in Criminal Justice and am pursuing my Master’s in Management. For the past three and a half years I have been working as police officer in New Mexico. Prior to this position I was enlisted in the Army for a successful six years of service.
When I originally started my educational career a few years ago, I honestly had no idea what I wanted to do or which path to take. I eventually decided on a BA in Criminal Justice as I felt it related directly to my career. It is to no surprise that law enforcement is the center of attention for all forms of media (some positive but mostly negative). I have seen morale in my department go from 100% to a continuous downward trickle. I do aspire to promote to a managerial position some day and having knowledge in business management would benefit me greatly. Staying current with the new learnings in all forms of management to include cross cultural management would benefit any person regardless of their career field. The course objectives align with my desires in wanting to further my knowledge and improve the management within my department. From furthering my knowledge regarding organization behavior, analyzing strategies for internal corporate communications, and different roles played in solving conflicts, I feel I can take all that information learned from the course objectives and use it in a way to help benefit my organization.
Aside from my work life, I am married to my wife Jessica, and we have one crazy three-year-old named Cherish. We also own two human size Old English Mastiffs who are pretty much our kids (or so that is how they act). My wife and I both work fulltime and are pursuing graduate degrees so what little free time we do have is given to our little one and the dogs. During this time, we usually will try to take our daughter out or just lounge around the house and relax.
Again, I look forward to working with everyone over the next eight weeks and I wish everyone the best of luck!
Respectfully,
Kevin

Good afternoon, Dr. Shah and class
My Name is Sage Ladieu, my home is in Belmont, New Hampshire, where I live with my wife and two rescue pities. I have two daughters, my youngest who lives in NH she just graduated from SNHU with a degree in criminal justice and my oldest lives in Maine working as an animal behaviorist.
Currently, I am serving on active-duty as an Infantry Brigade Command Sergeant Major with the Army. I am transitioning to the civilian world at the end of July after serving over 29 years of military service with combined time in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and lastly with the New Hampshire Army National Guard. I have been fortunate to serve in many different leadership positions within the Infantry, Aviation and Recruiting occupational specialties. I was also afforded the opportunity to teach future Army officers as an ARMY ROTC instructor of military science and tactics with the University of New Hampshire.
All of my positions have been rewarding in their own way providing me the opportunity to travel to over 15 states, 14 different countries and serve in three major conflicts. During this time, I was also fortunate to be able advance my education while in the military attending numerous tactical and strategic courses and classes with the Army and at the National Defense University, NATO School, Department of Homeland Security, FEMA, United States Sergeants Major Academy and lastly Post University earning my BS in Criminal Justice. I plan on doing the same with my MA in Management at AMU during my transition out of service. After my transition from service, my plan is to stay in New Hampshire and start planning phase two of my career.
The reason I am pursuing a Masters in Management, is so I can set myself up for success in the civilian workplace and advance my education. I have over 20 years of Management and Leadership experience with the military and would love to share my experience in a different capacity within the civilian workplace.
I am hoping this class will expand my knowledge in the management field, this way I can apply what I have learned to future positions. My special interests and hobbies are camping, hiking, skiing, boxing, motorcycle riding, Cross-fit and spending quality time with my family and friends.
One of the course objectives that piques my interest is culture in the workplace, I am looking to learn more about culture in the workplace outside the military. I want to see how the civilian workforce operates with different cultures, and what procedures if any, should upper management plan to implement to help foster a positive work environment for their organization. I feel this will make me a more informed as a future leader for the civilian workplace.
I am looking forward to exchanging dialog with you all over the next 8 weeks.
